The latest 3G3M1-ECT inverter has an extensive parameter list, with over 1000 parameters available in Sysmac Studio. This can make navigating and editing parameters tedious and time consuming. Although you can filter and sort this list accordingly, there are many reasons you may want to create a custom parameter group specific to your application.

This article will show you how you can create your own custom parameter group, and how you can export and import this group across different inverters for quicker commissioning and monitoring.

This article assumes you are familiar with the 3G3M1-ECT in Sysmac studio, and the inverter has already been added to your EtherCAT tree.

Creating the Parameter Group

This example will create a parameter list which will use the parameters set out in our 3G3M1 Quick Start Guide.

  1. Begin by double clicking on the Parameters of you inverter. This will display all of the available parameters.
  1. Right click on any parameter within the list, select Add to ‘User Selection’ → Create new List…
  1. Provide a name for your list, and any comments if you wish.
  1. Scroll or search for the parameter you wish to add to your list. In this instance, we'll add F004 - Base Frequency.
Right-click on the parameter, select Add to ‘User Selection’  → ‘Your list name’ .

  1. Repeat this for:
    • F005 (Rated Voltage at Base Frequency)
    • F011 (Motor Electronic Thermal Level)
    • P001 (Motor Pole Number)
    • P002 (Motor Capacity)
    • F003 (Maximum Output Frequency)
    • F002 (Run Command Selection)
    • F001 (Frequency Reference)
    • F007 (Acceleration Time)
    • F008 (Deceleration Time)
  2. Sysmac Studio will add a tick mark next to the list that you have added the parameter to. This is the quickest way to distinguish if the parameter has been added to the group.
  1. To view the list, simply select the All Parameters dropdown, then expand the User Selection dropdown to view all of your lists. Select the list of your choice.
  1. You can now view your custom list of parameters.

Exporting and Importing Groups.

Groups can be easily exported to a file, and imported into other projects.

To do this, open any parameter list. This can be a parameter group you have created, or the base parameter list.

Right-click on any parameter and select Organize ‘User Selection’. This will produce a new window in which you can Import and Export your parameter group.

You may also use this window to rename, delete, or create additional parameter groups.

Parameter groups are applied to the specific node, not the project. If you have a project containing 10 inverters, you will need to import the parameter group to each node individually.

Bulk import / export is not currently possible.
