Image logging can be done with the VHV5 Code Reader for traceability requirements, this can be done locally to the device itself or to an FTP server. This article covers how to setup the Local Logging as well as how to retrieve these files.

  1. Under the Read Sequence Pane, click on the “Output” window at the bottom of the list.
  2. On the right hand side you will see a new setting window showing “Cycle Archive". Inside this window you can select to Log Images and Cycle Reports or each one individually. You will also set the frequency of the logging (i.e. only record “Fails” or only record “Passes” depending on your requirement)

  1. For this example, set the “Where” parameter to “Locally”
  2. Once this is complete, save the project and begin to collect some images.

The next step is retrieving these images from the device. To do this you will need the “Omron Device Discovery Utility” software.

Once you have opened this it will scan the local network for the VHV5 Code Reader and display the devices that it has located. Click to open your device.

From inside this window you can now select how many images/reports you are wanting to upload and retrieve them to your PC.
