A counter is a device used to count the number of objects or operations in a system. It operates by registering ON/OFF signals received from an input device, such as a switch or sensor. Each time the input signal changes state (typically from OFF to ON), the counter increments or decrements its value, depending on its configuration. This allows it to track quantities, monitor process cycles, or control sequences based on a predefined count.
