Scenario

Setting up of a KM-N3 power monitor and CT's

Solution

To correctly setup a KM-N3 Power Monitor to monitor the power coming from your mains power supply, the following wiring and parameters need to be setup.

Wiring the KM-N3

  • Ensure terminals 8 and 4 are shorted to a create a terminating resistor if Modbus communication is required.
  • Connect the CT cable to point 17 in the diagram (Current input terminal) this configuration will change depending on the wiring required.

Changing between Monitor and Setting mode

  • To change between the measuring and setting mode, press and hold the mode key.
  • Enter the password 0001 to enter the setting mode.

Parameters required to read values

From the above parameters, the following need to be set. These parameters will change depending on the type of CT being used and the phase and wire type.

  • A1- Set this based on your wire and phase configuration.
  • A2- The address you will use to read values from the KM-N3 to an external device such as a HMI.
  • A3- Set this depending if you're CT is rated for 1A or 5A.
  • A4- Rated Value for the primary side of the CT.
  • A6- Set this ON to read and display the values of the CT's.
  • CMMN 00- Set to MODBUS or COMPF communication.
