Introduction

This guide will show two methods of backing up Sysmac Studio projects and restoring them.

This can be used to transfer projects between computers, as well as to create backup repositories.

Pre-Requisites

Basic Windows and Sysmac Studio knowledge.

Procedure

Method 1: Export/Import

This method can be used to back up a single project at a time.

Step 1: Exporting

Open the project in Sysmac Studio, and navigate to File -> Export, as shown in the below image.

This will open a standard Windows dialogue allowing for the entry of a filename and selection of a location for the exported project to be saved.

Step 2: Importing

Open Sysmac Studio and select the 'Import' option from the project selection screen, as shown in the below image.

Alternatively, navigate to File -> Import, as shown in the below image.

This will open a standard Windows dialogue allowing for browsing and selection of a Sysmac Studio Project file, which can then be opened in Sysmac Studio.

This process will add the imported project to the list of recent projects in Sysmac Studio.

Method 2: Windows Copy Process

This method can only be used to backup the entire Sysmac Studio project library. Individual projects cannot be backed up with this method.

Step 1: Backing Up

Ensure that Sysmac Studio is closed.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Omron Data Solutions folder. By default, this is located at the following local address:

  • C:\OMRON\Data\Solution

Within this folder, there will be a number of encrypted folders, similar to the below image.

These folders contain Sysmac Studio project data. Copy all of them, and paste them in a backup location.

Step 2: Restoring

Ensure that Sysmac Studio is closed.

Copy the backed up folders from the previous step and paste them into the Omron Data Solutions folder. By default, this is located at the following address.

  • C:\OMRON\Data\Solution

Once the paste process is complete, open Sysmac Studio. The projects will accessible from the standard 'Open Project' option.
