Disclaimer

This article describes a single, specific instance of CX-ConfiguratorFDT failing to communicate correctly with connected devices. The procedures and corrective actions outlined herein were tested only under the following conditions: CX-ConfiguratorFDT version 3.3.2.0, CX-One version 4.61, Sysmac Studio version 1.62, and CX-Remover version 2507. No representation or warranty, express or implied, is given as to the accuracy, completeness, suitability, or applicability of this information outside of these software versions or a comparable environment. Problem Description

When using CX-ConfiguratorFDT to connect and configure an IO-Link network, there is the rare instance where CX-ConfiguratorFDT will connect to the highest level device but can not reach the lower ones (e.g. NX-ECC, IO-Link Device, etc.).

Update of software would not resolve the issue and even trying to register a potential “.dll” file that could be missing did not resolve the issue

Solution

It was eventually found that the only way to resolve the issue was following the steps below.

  1. Uninstall from Windows Control Panel: CX-ONE, Sysmac Studio, CX-Server, Communications Middleware and CX-Server driver control tool
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Install CX-Remover 2507 and execute
  4. Install CX-One v4.61
  5. Appeared following message: to use Profinet/Profibus configurations in CX-ConfiguratorFDT, install pnf…exe from CX-One DVD or from AutoUpdate Tool.
  6. Test CX-ConfiguratorFDT and make sure you can reach the devices, at this point you should be able to reach them but if not please perform steps 1-5 and make sure to follow the exact step.
  7. Install Sysmac Studio version 1.62 or above.
  8. Run AutoUpdate Tool if you need Profinet/Profibus options in CX-Configurator, if not you can leave this step for the next time you need to update your software.
  9. One more final confirmation that CX-ConfiguratorFDT can communicate with IO-Link Devices.
