Scenario
You are wanting to program an OMRON VSD that does not have the EIP ethernet option board.
Solution
There are two methods to connect the VSD with cx-drive, including creating a new drive project or autodetect method.
To physically connect the vsd to your computer, you will require a usb to mini-usb connector. as depicted below.
Auto-detect drive
Set the [Autodetect Options] in the CX-Drive and use the Autodetect function to automatically connect to the inverter

In the Autodetect options, tick the inverter drive type and the drive series.

After setting communication options in the advanced options window, select the Autodetect icon to detect the drive and upload the drives program automatically.

When the drive has been detected successfully, the status of the drive will change to ‘online’
New project
Create a new inverter project by going to File > New
In the new drive window, set the drive type, Drive type settings and the connection type.

After setting these items, click ‘OK’ and close windows. A new project is created.
Click the work online icon to connect to the inverter
